Dr. Shannon Smith

Dr. Shannon Smith is a licensed and board-certified psychologist who provides psychological assessments and individual therapy in a warm, welcoming private practice. Known for her down-to-earth style and compassionate presence, Dr. Smith has over 10 years of experience helping people feel understood, supported, and empowered to take meaningful steps toward healing.
She specializes in psychological evaluations for children, teens, and adults—including assessments for ADHD, Autism, learning differences, and mental health concerns. In therapy, Dr. Smith primarily works with adolescents and adults, helping them navigate anxiety, depression, grief, and the lasting effects of trauma.
Dr. Smith also has experience supporting veterans, healthcare professionals, and first responders as they work through burnout, compassion fatigue, chronic stress, recovery after a traumatic event, and transitions in life and identity. She offers a safe, judgment-free space where individuals can catch their breath, reconnect with themselves, and build resilience.
Her approach is collaborative and personalized, drawing from well-researched therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Interpersonal Process Therapy (IPT). Whether working with teens facing big emotions or adults navigating life’s challenges, Dr. Smith brings warmth, expertise, and a sincere belief in her clients’ capacity for growth.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Smith is a qualified supervisor with a passion for clinical training. She provides supervision for registered mental health interns and psychology trainees, offering a supportive, person-centered approach that focuses on the growth of the whole clinician. Dr. Smith uses a developmental model in supervision, meeting supervisees where they are and helping them build confidence, clinical skills, and professional identity along the way.
Trained at Florida State University and the University of Kentucky, Dr. Smith is committed to creating an inclusive, affirming environment where everyone feels welcome—just as they are.
